Mazatlan has a tropical climate with moderate humidity and warmth all year. Located south of the Tropic of Cancer, Mazatlan has a semi-tropical temperate climate throughout the year. The average temperature is between 25 and 30 Celsius grades. With an average of 300 sunny days a year, here you will always find beach weather.

If you decided to spend your vacation, or maybe just some unforgettable days in this beautiful city, there are some things to know before you visit Mazatlan including the varied public transportation options, the different accommodation possibilities with some examples and the best shopping places.

Transportation in Mazatlan

You will find taxis in the city of Mazatlán, but it is recommended to negotiate the price with the driver, obtaining in this way a substantial reduction.

There are two different types of buses in Mazatlán. The large ones are green and make the connection with the beaches have station at the Buelna Anvenue. These are equivalent to buses, being very well equipped with air conditioning. A ticket costs about $0.70/trip. The city is also served by regular local buses, which are cheaper – about $0.45. These buses serve the entire city.

Transport in the city is mainly motorized, except Centro Histórico, which is a very nice neighborhood that can be visited on foot. You can also rent a car.

Accommodation facilities in Mazatlan

The accommodation possibilities in Mazatlan are many and varied. You will also find accommodation at affordable prices. Except January, when the city can be a bit cold, Mazatlán is one of the most attractive seaside destinations in Mexico. In case you are traveling on a budget, try to be accommodated in Hotel Lerma, Hotel Mexico or Hotel Belmar. If you want to take advantage of better accommodation conditions try the Estrella Del Mar Golf & Beach Resort, the Las Villas Hotel & Spa, the El Cid Castilla Beach Hotel, the El Cid Granada Hotel & Country Club, the El Cid El Moro Beach Hotel or the El Cid Marina Beach Hotel.

Shopping in Mazatlan

Most of the stores of Mazatlan are located in the Centro Histórico. You can purchase great products at much lower prices than in the malls. In the gold area you will find products at high prices. At the Gran Plaza Mall you will find many stores where you can buy anything from clothes to food (although it is expensive).

If you eat in a restaurant, a cheap meal can cost about 62.50 MXN, a table for two that includes three dishes can cost about 290.00 MXN. The cost of indigenous beers (0.5 liters) is 19.00 MXN, while the imported beer (0.33 liter bottle ) is 35.00 MXN.
